Our team in South Australia have been busy at Drakes Lightsview.
For this project, Baker Refrigeration supplied and installed the new Epta ECO2 Large Transcritical CO₂ refrigeration plant, positioned at the back of store to support the site’s full refrigeration requirements.
This layout is one of the options available to supermarket owners when planning their store design. Depending on the site, available space and overall store layout, refrigeration plant can be positioned in different locations, including at the back of store or on the roof.
The ECO2 Large is designed for medium and large supermarkets, using natural refrigerant CO₂ / R744 to deliver high-capacity, energy-efficient refrigeration with a lower environmental impact. Its modular design makes it suitable for both new supermarket developments and major store refurbishments, with options including heat recovery, backup units, ETE technology, FTE technology and outdoor housing protection.
At Drakes Lightsview, the team also installed a full store of cabinets and a Custom Deli case, reflecting our ability to support both standard supermarket refrigeration requirements and custom case solutions.
Baker’s in-house electrical team also designed and manufactured the custom switchboard, supporting the refrigeration plant installation from design and fit-out through to commissioning.
Upgrading to a modern transcritical CO₂ system provides a future-ready supermarket refrigeration solution. Key benefits include reduced reliance on high-GWP refrigerants, improved long-term refrigerant compliance, energy-efficient operation, scalable refrigeration capacity and optional heat recovery, allowing stores to reuse waste heat generated by the refrigeration plant.
