Ice Machine Compliance Update
GEMS, R290 & Watermark Certification
There is a lot going on in the world of Ice Machines at the moment and some incorrect information circulating. We have been working hard behind the scenes and would like to provide you an update.
From 1 March 2026, new Australian energy efficiency requirements (GEMS) apply to ice machines manufactured from that date.
Products manufactured prior to this may continue to be supplied, provided they meet the applicable requirements in place at the time of manufacture and can be verified if required.
Coinciding with this is the requirement to display our Watermark certification on applicable machines. Our supplier, Manitowoc are also rolling out ice machines with R290 Natural Refrigerant!
What this means for you
GEMS Registration
Manufacturers are completing testing and approvals to comply with Australian regulations.
As models are approved, they are registered and issued an AIM number, this number must be displayed on all sales materials.
This process, for the range of ice machines we import has now been completed.
WaterMark Certification
WaterMark certification continues to be a legal requirement for applicable models. Certified machines are labelled in accordance with regulatory requirements prior to supply, we are completing this alongside the GEMS update.
R290 Transition
Our Ice Machine Supplier is rolling out upgrades to certain models of ice machines into Australia with R290. This will see a reduction in energy consumption and increased production capacity.
Ice Machine Catalogue
We are working on updating the Ice Machine Catalogue with the above changes, as well as many changes to model numbers by the supplier.
Ice Machine Pricing and Price List
We are holding off on any updates until mid-2026 and once we have completed all the updates.
