Supporting the Next Generation of Refrigeration Technicians
We’re proud to have supported the WorldSkills program by hosting four participants — Bradley, Chad, Jesse and Saxon with Glen Riddett from TAFE NSW — at our Perth branch, coordinated by Stephen Kulacz, Lecturer, CRA – Refrigeration and Air Conditioning at South Metropolitan TAFE.
Mike Baker opened the visit with an introduction to Baker Refrigeration in the boardroom. The session then moved into CO₂ refrigeration and natural refrigerants, with both Mike and Rhys covering key concepts and workflows.
From there, the group headed into the warehouse for a practical, hands-on session where they were able to apply and build on what they had just learnt.
The group then visited Tucker Fresh IGA Piara Waters, where they saw their learnings from the morning applied in a live supermarket environment.

Fun Fact: Rhys completed his apprenticeship with us, he’s now Chief Tenderer, and Stephen Kulacz was also an apprentice with us.
