AJ Baker & Sons has celebrated continued growth since being established in 1920. It is that growth, teamed with solid management and innovation that has placed our company in the position to engage in large projects.

The Baker Family

Our human resources number is approx. 245. This investment enables our business to resource all aspects of the operation to the level of excellence we demand.

Our success depends largely on the ability to integrate our available resources at any given time and have the capability to undertake existing works. AJ Baker & Sons are proud to maintain a large workforce across the different states.

As well as our own in-house facilities we employ a variety of specialist sub-contractors for the supply and installation of capital refrigeration equipment.

Sub-contractors are selected based on the quality of their work and past experience that AJ Baker & Sons have had with them. Where practical we ensure our subcontractors are able provide innovative cost saving solutions, without compromising standards or quality of service.

Peter Baker

Chairman

Peter Baker joined the Company in 1968 and served in a number of positions prior to assuming the Managing Director’s role in 1981.

He is currently the Chairman of the Company and acts in an advisory role to all areas of the business.

Mike Baker

Managing Director

Mike Baker is a University qualified Mechanical Engineer with a wealth of experience in the refrigeration and power industries.

Mike held a position at Western Power for 14 years prior to joining AJ Baker & Sons in 2004 Mike oversees the national branch network and manages the two West Australian Branches.

Brendan Krummel

Director

Brendan’s 30 years of experience in refrigeration and air conditioning commenced with a four-year apprenticeship with us.

He established our Queensland Branch enabling Baker Refrigeration to expand into the eastern states, allowing our businesses to grow substantially.

Brendan oversees our Queensland and South Australia branches and is the account manager for a number of our major independent supermarket chains.

Claus Mecklinger

Director

Claus commenced with Baker Refrigeration in January 2007. He has a Bachelor of Business, a Master of Business Administration and over 10 years of Management experience with Linde Refrigeration Systems in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Claus brings a vast knowledge of company development and management skills.

Claus oversees our Victoria and New South Wales branches and manages the ALDI relationship and its contractual obligations.

Matthew McIntyre

Victoria State Manager

Matthew has over 30 years of commercial refrigeration experience since completing his apprenticeship.

Matthew took on the role as our Victorian State Manager after moving from his role as Design Engineer for Refrigeration Systems & Air Conditioning at Woolworths.

Mathew is responsible for managing our Victorian Branch operations: project installations, servicing and sales of capital equipment.

Scott Snowden

New South Wales State Manager

Scott is freshly appointed the State Manager for the NSW Branch where he has been a dedicated team member for over 14 years.

His extensive experience within the company includes roles such as Service Manager for 11 years and 4 months, Commissioner for 1 year and 4 months, and Senior Service Technician for 1 year and 7 months.

Scott overseas the NSW Branch utilising his skills from his previous roles.

 

Graham Bayne

South Australia State Manager

Graham has over 23 years of commercial refrigeration experience in South Australia.

Graham was previously with Hill Equipment and moved to Bakers when we acquired that business.

He has 11 years experience as a Refrigeration Technician and has worked his way up to being a valuable team member as State Manager

Mitchell Jacobsen

VALE: Mitch will always be part of our team.

Mitch joined Baker Refrigeration in June 2009. He has over 25 years of commercial refrigeration experience since completing his apprenticeship.

Sadly Mitch passed away in April 2024.

Denis Bennett

Bunbury WA Branch Manager

Denis joined Baker Refrigeration back in 2004 as a service mechanic, since then he has been actively involved in the day-to-day operation of our Bunbury branch in Western Australia. He was promoted to the Bunbury Branch Manager in 2010.

Denis has over 28 years of commercial refrigeration experience and plays an integral role in project installation, sales and service of capital equipment in the southwest of Western Australia.

Charlie Coughlan

National Sales Manager - Plug in Equipment

Charlie has been with Baker Refrigeration for 13 years. He has a Diploma in Business Studies and 16 years of experience in the commercial refrigeration industry.

Over the past 13 years, Charlie has promoted Baker Refrigeration across Australia to a wide range of corporate, retail and distributor customers, concentrating on our brands of plug-in refrigeration cases and Manitowoc ice machines.

Lucinda Moore

NSW Sales Executive

Lucinda joined Baker Refrigeration in 2013 and has a Bachelor degree in Marketing. Lucinda has been selling refrigeration to the independent market for over 10 years.

Lucinda uses her extensive product knowledge and understanding of the retail supermarket industry to provide excellent service to her customers and offers tailored solutions for both new stores and the refurbishment of existing sites.

Travis Miegel

SA Sales Executive

Travis commenced with Baker Refrigeration in October 2016 after working in the commercial kitchen industry for 6 years. He has completed a Certificate III in Cabinet Making and a Certificate IV in Sales & Marketing.

Travis is responsible for quoting, sales, project management, CAD drafting, kitchen design and customer relationships.

Andrew Broomhall

WA Sales Executive

Andrew has been employed at Baker Refrigeration since April 1997, he started with us as a draftsperson.

Andrew has completed his Diploma of Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Technology, and has over 20 years’ experience in helping develop the Baker Refrigeration brand.

Andrew is involved in project estimation and overall project implementation.

Emma Grundell

QLD Sales Executive

Emma Grundell is a highly skilled sales executive based in Brisbane, Australia with a focus all aspects of sales.

Her skills are complemented by her expertise in client relations, sales operations, and sales processes.

Emma excels in customer service and business-to-business (B2B) interactions.

Erika Bockler Billeaud

QLD Sales Executive 

Erika commenced with AJ Baker & Sons in 2020 with 16 years’ experience in the industry.

Erika has completed a Bachelor Degree in Marketing and Business to Business, and studied electrical engineering, specialising in controls and building automation in France.

Erika’s previous roles have been in technical and sales positions, always focusing on delivering great customer service.

Ken Perry

VIC Sales Executive 

Ken Perry (KP) joined the team at AJ Baker & Sons in 2023.

With over two decades of expertise as a pastry chef, Ken’s skills transcend the kitchen. Before joining AJ Baker & Sons, he spent time in the food services industry in the dealer network, which now assists Ken in understanding both sides of the refrigeration spectrum.

His background equips him with invaluable insights that drive innovation and excellence in his role.

Aina Coventry-Martini

SA Sales Executive

Aina Coventry-Martini is a bubbly team member of AJ Baker & Sons’ Adelaide Foodservice Department.

With a transition from Sales Coordinator to Sales Executive in April 2023, Aina’s journey with AJ Baker & Sons reflects her commitment and expertise in the industry.

Her tenure since 2021 has been marked by a dedication to excellence and a passion for delivering professional service to clients.

Ellis Wilkinson

SA Sales Executive

Ellis Wilkinson has over 30 years’ experience in the catering sector and now brings that expertise to the food service industry in his role at AJ Baker & Sons as Sales Executive, Foodservice Equipment, based in South Australia.

Ellis taps into his skills from previous roles to target opportunities in the South Australian food service space.

Vicki White

National Marketing

Vicki joined AJ Baker & Sons in 2020 to run the marketing department.

With a multifaceted skill set spanning marketing, photography, social media management, and digital content creation, Vicki is behind the brand’s online presence.

Her expertise extends beyond traditional marketing.

Dylan Tame

National Service Manager

With over two decades of experience in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry, Dylan has been an integral part of AJ Baker & Sons since September 2013.

As the newly appointed National Service Manager, Dylan oversees all service teams ensuring the highest standards of customer satisfaction and technical excellence is received by our customers.
