2023 IHHC National Conference Wrap Up (SA)
AJ Baker & Sons staff member Ellis Wilkinson facilitated two sessions at The Institute of Hospitality In Healthcare (IHHC) National Conference held in Adelaide from October 16th to 18th, 2023. The conference, themed “Embracing Transformation – A World of Opportunity,” delegates were from various health and aged care organisations around Australia. Attendees included Support Service Managers, Foodservice Managers, Executive Chefs, Cleaning, Laundry, and Environmental Services Managers, along with other professionals involved in delivering services to the Health and Aged Care Industry.
The Program featured speakers addressing topics relevant to the industry. As well as providing a platform for networking and business opportunities through a trade exhibition and a dynamic schedule of social events. The conference showcased the latest trends and innovations in the health and aged care sector.
During the morning panel discussions, delegates gained insights into the potential of the kitchen of the future, the alignment of technology and kitchen equipment with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, and how technology can address financial and workforce challenges. The panels also examined how equipment can assist businesses in adhering to both internal and external standards, ensuring quality and compliance in the industry.
In the afternoon, the panels shifted their focus to the human aspect of the industry, offering valuable takeaways on workforce modeling, strategies for attracting the right candidates, creating and supporting high-performing and inclusive work environments, and exploring the realm of employee benefits, both present and future. Additionally, discussions revolved around effective staff retention strategies, a vital aspect of maintaining a skilled and dedicated workforce in the healthcare and aged care sector.
