ALDI Warringal (VIC)
The Warringal Shopping Centre first opened in 1986 and has become the main shopping centre in the heart of Heidelberg (VIC) situated on the historical and iconic Burgundy Street. It showcases over 40 retailers including our customer Aldi, making it a convenient location for all your shopping needs.
This ALDI supermarket features a modern look with redesigned shelving, expanded wooden produce bays, LED lighting and improved point-of-sale displays and store signage. It adopts our energy-efficient chest freezers and top freezers which utilise HC refrigerants and VSD compressor control. The main refrigeration plant operates with an Epta Pack utilising CO₂ R744 (GWP=1) and R134a (for the medium temperature display cases).
The Sub Critical Hybrid CO₂/R134a design delivers a reduction in the carbon footprint of the refrigeration plant. Other energy saving initiatives within the plant design are electronic expansion valves, variable speed drives on condenser fans and capacity control for compressors. The store manager can also supervise the case temperatures and plant operation via a centralised Carel supervisory control panel.
The helicopter lift of the new 1100 kg refrigeration condensing unit was necessary due to the difficult access to the roof. This solution also allowed us to maximise the safety of the ground crew and surrounding buildings. Unlike a large mobile crane, the operation had no effect on trading hours. The project was completed below budget and in less than a quarter of the time it would take with a conventional crane.
