R U OK? Day – Start a Conversation
Today is R U OK? Day, a national day focused on encouraging meaningful conversations and helping people feel more confident checking in with someone who may be struggling.
Sometimes the signs can be small. A teammate may seem quieter than usual, distracted, withdrawn or simply not quite themselves. You might notice something feels different but be unsure whether to say anything or how to start the conversation.
That is where the R U OK? campaign can help.
The campaign provides practical resources and guidance to help people recognise the signs, start a conversation, listen and know what to do next.
If you are concerned about someone, take a few minutes to read through the available information. Think about how you might approach them, then simply ask:
“Are you OK?”
You do not need to have all the answers. The important thing is showing that you have noticed, that you care and that you are willing to listen.
A simple conversation may be exactly what someone needs.
Ask R U OK? Any Day.
